Going to pot...
I made some rustic pots using terracotta clay - very simple, imperfect, but with a bit of watercolour weathering and some plants, they look the part...
Just right for my salmon pink geraniums... I need a windowsill-full but for now, one pot will do! It is for my kitchen, which is slowly taking shape...
... with a little help from Elizabeth at Studio E Miniatures who did a swap with me - and made me some of the chives that I had admired so much in her garden - they are perfection, ever so delicate, and with a lovely butterfly, and an even tinier beetle on a leaf! Elizabeth is a master craftsman, and has an excellent eye for detail!
The problem with making mini pots and plants is that it is very addicitive...
Which is just as well, as I want to fill my kitchen with salmon pink geraniums... but can you guess why?
Jonquil
Hello Jonquil,
ReplyDeleteThe pots are just beautiful! They really look well used and will be a wonderful detail added to your house. Elizabeth is incredibly talented and I must say, like yourself, a very great lady. Hum, I can't imagine why pink geraniums? I look forward to finding out ;)
Big hug,
Giac
Thanks Giac, but as you know, I am not a 'pink' girl, so they are specifically SALMON pink, ;D! Elizabeth's kitchen is quite an inspiration, and this kitchen is just sort of 'happening' on its own accord....
DeleteThe salmon pink geraniums are a reference to a certain kitchen in a book, but all will be revealed later ;)
Your pots have great rustic charm and perfectly suit the geraniums. I love the pink you chose for those.
ReplyDeleteHi Shannon,
DeleteRustic is definitely the word, if not 'seconds/factory rejects'! but they look ok when spruced up with a bit of paint and filled with flowers, at least, that's the plan!
Las plantas quedarán preciosas donde las pongas.
ReplyDeletemuchas gracias Isabel!
Deletemi madre siempre tenía geranios en su cocina y creo que una cocina es incompleta sin ellos
Oh Jonquil! I am so happy that the pot of chives has turned out to fit so well with your other potted plants! :D I love the salmon pink geraniums on the window ledge in your kitchen. They are very cheerful and I know just what you mean about plant making being addictive!
ReplyDeleteI am Very Excited about how you plan to fill all of them and I can hardly wait for the next chapter of your garden and the geraniums in your kitchen! :D
elizabeth
Hi Elizabeth- I plan to fill them with time, ha ha, when I have any ;)! the good thing about pot and plant making is that it is highly portable, so I can make a few when making dinner or colouring-in with my little boys!
DeleteI would like to do a lot of herbsin pots, just like at my RL kitchen door, because your chives are just so inspiring - but I'm not sure if I'll be able to make them with such attention to detail as yours (therefore possibly insect-free!)
Beautiful flowers! all look like real, are very natural, love this with butterfly! I very like your tiny "cabinet" in picture with geranium, cute piece!
ReplyDeleteMagda
thanks Magda, the butterfly was an inspired addition by Elizabeth, is just makes the pot perfect, doesn't it?
DeleteThe 'cabinet' is actually an egg hutch, though the hens haven't laid any eggs in a while, so for now it is empty!
The pots look so good filled with plants. The chives are great.Greetings
ReplyDeletethanks so much, they are very easy to make, and even more fun to fill!
DeleteReally beautiful! I love the mix and arrangement of flowers.
ReplyDeleteGeneviève
thanks! I didn't plan the arrangement, they just seemed to go together quite well, slightly random and natural, just like in my garden
DeleteI'm intrigued by your reference to the "salmon" in regard to your kitchen, hmmmmm? Waiting for your next post now! I do like the rustic look of your geraniums and if you're making lots of pots it would be such a shame not to fill them all!
