Back From Holidays!
Finally, I've managed to get posting again after a bit of Spring break. Being in Spain visiting family and nowhere near any mini related things was difficult, especially as I forgot to bring my workbox with me! But it is amazing what you can find, even in a tiny Spanish village.
I found this packet of gold sprayed wood bits. I've no idea what they were intended for, but they'll be perfect to finish the alcove when I make it in wood. I was a little stressed about cutting a curve in wood, but here is my solution! Found under a lot of dust in the equivalent of a dollar store (needless to say, I bought four packets for posterity!).
Last weekend, back in Lyon, I went to a brocante (flea market), braving ice cold wind and rain, and managed to find this beauty - a fine lawn handkerchief edged with handmade lace... unfortunately it was at the end of the day, and I only had a couple of euros left, so I couldn't buy the rest of the handkerchieves that the vendor was selling! The scale is too big for 1:12, but I think I can find a home for it as a bedspread, without it looking too out of scale - the workmanship is simply stunning!
Hello Jonquil,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had nice trip, even with the rain! There is something so beautiful about well done delicate lace. You really chose a wonderful piece. I can't wait to see the finished alcove. I really love your work, you always impress.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Hugs,
Giac
I'm keen to see how you use your mystery wooden bits too! The handerchief is a lovely find and I'm sure you'll definitely find a use for it.
